5 of The Best Homeschool Programs in 2023

Homeschooling is becoming increasingly popular as more and more parents look for quality education options for their children. With a wide range of homeschool programs available, it can be difficult to decide which one best suits your child's needs. In this article, I discuss five of the best homeschool programs - Khan Academy, Time4Learning, Stride K12, edX and CK-12 - their features, how much they cost and provide some tips to help you decide which program is best for your child. How to choose the best homeschool program for your family's needs There are several factors you should consider before you select a homeschool program. These include curriculum, cost, learning styles, schedule flexibility, and support. Also, make sure to read reviews from other parents who have used the program and ask questions to get a better understanding of how the homeschool program works. It’s best to try out any program before committing fully, as it’s easier to switch programs if needed once you have more experience with them. What are some of the Benefits of homeschooling? Homeschooling has a wide vareity of benefits that include the ability to customize curriculum, provide a more personalized learning experience for your child, and spend more time together as a family. Additionally, homeschooling allows you to create an individualized schedule that best fits your family’s lifestyle. Also, homeschooling eliminates the need to worry about bullying, as your child is in a safe and supportive learning environment. Khan Academy (Grades K-12) Khan Academy is one of the best free homeschool programs out there. It offers a wide variety of free courses for students in grades K-12. These courses cover various topics including history, English, science, math, computer science, economics, and more. The only cons I find in Kahn Academy is the lack of one-on-one instruction and interactive courses. Other than that, Khadny Academy is the best homeschooling option for those looking for quality courses for free. 2. Time4Learning (grades PreK-12) Time4Learning is another great homeschool program to consider. It offers a comprehensive standards-based academic curriculum that includes subjects such as math, reading, science, social studies, language arts, and electives. Each subject is arranged into different chapters consisting of interactive lessons, engaging activities, printable worksheets, quizzes, and tests.  Students are able to complete the material at their own pace. Time4Learning offers an "automated grading and recordkeeping system, as well as various tools to help you customize your child’s learning. Time4Learning is not accredited. It is basically an online curriculum." How much does a Time4Learning membership cost? For PreK to 8th grade, the monthly membership cost is $24.95 for the first student and $14.95 for each additional student. For high school, the monthly membership cost is $34.95 per student, and includes 4 courses. Additional courses may be purchased for an extra $5 per month, per course. 3. Stride K12 (Grades K-12) Stride K12 offers various online learning programs personalized for your own kids. This is an accredited program with state-certified teachers that offer both tuition-free and tuition-based school programs. For grades K-5, parents (called Learning Coach) are required to work with the teacher to help their child through the daily lessons.  "Stride K12-powered teachers interact with students and their Learning Coaches, often on a daily or weekly basis. Teachers are available for student support through email, phone, and virtual instruction." How much does Stride K12 cost? Stride K12 offers Tuition-Free Online Public Schools which cover Kindergarten, middle school, and high school and tuition-based school and courses whose price differ from one course to the other. 4- edX (grades: middle school to college) edX is another good homeschooling platform to consider and although its courses are for students in middle to college level I find the whole platform and the kind of educational materials it offers ideal for college students. edX features specialized college-level courses from high-ranking universities such as MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Boston, and more. Its courses cover different subjects from agriculture to social sciences. How much do edX courses cost? While some courses at edX are free, most require a fee to access full course materials. The fees for each course vary based on the type of program and the length of time students plan to use it. Additionally, students must create an account and provide payment information before enrolling in the program. 5. CK-12 (Grades K-12) If you are looking for a homeschool program focused on STEM education, CK-12 is one of the best free options to consider. This nonprofit organization focuses on providing students with access to quality information and learning materials in math, science, English, geography, history, and more. CK12 also has an extensive library of interactive activities and simulations to help expand student learning. CK-12 materials are free. This post originally appeared in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning ( www.educatorstechnology.com ).

Ptable- An Interactive Periodic Table for Teachers and Students

Ptable is an interactive periodic table that works on both desktop and mobile device. Chemical elements on Ptable are organized by atomic number, properties, and electron configuration. Each element on this periodic table is outsourced to Wikipedia for more information.  Some of the cool features provided by Ptable include a Time machine which allows users to go back in time and explore the elements discovered during that year.  An Isotope view which once chosen overlays selected or all known isotopes for a given element. A compound tab that provides information regarding the possible compounds elements form, and many more. Ptable also provides "complete orbital readout for each element's ground state, quantum numbers, oxidation states, and diagram following Hund's rules. Hover over each electron pair for a 3-D view of that orbital that you can drag to rotate or hover over the element to view its highest occupied atomic orbital.".  As for the structure of the data, u
