Typeform- A Good Form Building Tool for Teachers and Students

Typeform is a good  form builder that you can use to create a wide variety of form types including: surveys, contact forms, questionnaires, quizzes, registration forms, polls, invitations and many more. Typeform provides a set of interesting features (some of which are interactive) enabling you to easily collect and share information in a secure way. Of particular interest to us in education are the online Form Builder tool, Survey Maker tool, and the Quiz Maker tool. 1. Form Builder  Typeform' s Form Builder tool allows you to create beautiful and interactive forms to share with others. ‘Just start typing like a notepad, and out intuitive form builder anticipates your questions and automatically adds them.’ You can include in your forms things such as custom designs and GIFs. You can also choose from a variety of predesigned forms and customize them the way you want. Typeform forms are mobile-friendly and can be embedded anywhere online. 2. Survey Maker The Survey Maker tool lets you design and share surveys. You can either build your own survey from scratch or use a pre-made template which you can tweak to suit your needs. With its integration with Google Sheets, you are able to manage your  Typeform survey results on Sheets and also share them with those who don’t have a Typeform account. 3. Quiz Maker Quiz Maker is a tool you can use to create various types of quizzes and tests. It offers some excellent pre-designed quiz templates to start with. These include templates for creating geography, vocabulary, trivia, math, and science quizzes. There are also templates for English placement tests.  Using Typeform’ s Calculator (which is a pro feature) you will be able to ‘set up your own scoring system and save hours of correction and scoring. You can also link to Typeform’s general report at the end of your quiz so your students can see how they compare with their peers.’ You can also embed your quizzes on your class website using a custom code. Other features provided by Typeform' s quiz maker include the ability to automatically send certificate of completion to students once they finish their tests, create custom messages for various responses and quiz results, insert multimedia materials into your quizzes (e.g., images, GIFs, and videos), include conditional logic functionality to provide students with more options when they choose a particular course of action, and many more. How much does Typeform cost? Typeform has a basic free version with limited options (which are enough for us in education), more advanced features are included in the pro-version. There are three premium versions: Basic ($25/month billed yearly), Plus ($50/month billed yearly), and Business ($83/month billed yearly). Alternatives to Typeform? Some good form building alternatives to Typeform include Google Forms, Jotform, 123FormBuilder, among others. This post originally appeared in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning ( www.educatorstechnology.com ).

Ptable- An Interactive Periodic Table for Teachers and Students

Ptable is an interactive periodic table that works on both desktop and mobile device. Chemical elements on Ptable are organized by atomic number, properties, and electron configuration. Each element on this periodic table is outsourced to Wikipedia for more information.  Some of the cool features provided by Ptable include a Time machine which allows users to go back in time and explore the elements discovered during that year.  An Isotope view which once chosen overlays selected or all known isotopes for a given element. A compound tab that provides information regarding the possible compounds elements form, and many more. Ptable also provides "complete orbital readout for each element's ground state, quantum numbers, oxidation states, and diagram following Hund's rules. Hover over each electron pair for a 3-D view of that orbital that you can drag to rotate or hover over the element to view its highest occupied atomic orbital.".  As for the structure of the data, u
